Aussie Hoops is a fun and innovative program which introduces 5-12 year olds to the game of basketball, with an emphasis on fun!
The Aussie Hoops program uses a "game sense" approach through various activities and games, designed to emulate the experience of basketball. Aussie Hoops is for boys and girls between the ages of 5-12 years, of all abilities (including those with physical and development impairments). It can be played all year around, indoors or outdoors and offers a wide ranges of activities. You don't even need a hoop!
Aussie Hoops is delivered in schools and associations all over Australia. The In-School Program can be during or after school time, and can be run as a one-off session or weekly program. Aussie Hoops at stadiums can either be a holiday camp or weekly program during school terms.
There are plenty of activities you can do, handy session plans and activity cards mean that coaches and parents or even teenagers can easily run a session. Kids develop their basketball skills and general motor skills through the program by doing modified activities and games. They are having so much fun, they don’t even realise they are learning!
